A Tangipahoa Parish resident, Kawaiishh Brown, age 52, pleaded guilty on December 4, 2025, to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine. The plea was entered before United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier, according to an announcement by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.

Court documents indicate that in January 2024, law enforcement learned that Shyheim Pines sold heroin and fentanyl from his residence in Pontchatoula, Louisiana. Investigators also determined that his mother distributed heroin and fentanyl from her own home on behalf of Pines.

On March 26, 2024, authorities executed search warrants at the homes of Pines and Brown. At Pines’ residence, agents discovered a black book sack containing 312.1 grams of methamphetamine, 1.61 grams of cocaine, and 57 grams of a substance containing tramadol, fentanyl, and heroin. Also found in the bag was a Glock Model 22 .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol.

At Brown’s residence, officers seized 57.1 grams of methamphetamine, 5.523 grams of fentanyl, 11.73 grams of cocaine and .995 grams of cocaine base. Additionally recovered were a Ruger LSP .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a Radical Firearm Model RF-15 semi-automatic rifle.

Brown faces up to twenty years in prison if convicted as charged. She may also be fined up to $1 million and could receive at least three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment as well as a mandatory special assessment fee.

The investigation was conducted by several agencies including the Southeastern Louisiana University Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration Fentanyl Overdose Response Team (FORT), which consists of members from multiple law enforcement organizations across the region. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Lauren Sarver and André Jones from the Narcotics Unit.

“KAWAIISHH BROWN… pled guilty on December 4, 2025 before United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier to conspiracy to distribute, and possess with intent to distribute…” announced Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
