Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation announced on Apr. 24 the arrest of Gabriel Alpha, a South Carolina resident, for allegedly uploading child sexual abuse material while living in Patterson, Louisiana. The arrest follows an investigation that began in August 2023 when Special Agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation received multiple Cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Alpha’s activities.
Alpha, age 23 and formerly residing on Nance Street in Newberry, South Carolina, is accused of uploading illicit material during his time in St. Mary Parish. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant after their investigation and located Alpha on April 23 in Newberry County, South Carolina. He was taken into custody and booked into the Newberry County Detention Center pending extradition to St. Mary Parish.
Alpha faces five counts under RS 14:81.1 related to child sexual abuse material. The case involved cooperation among several agencies including the LBI Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division Fugitive Unit, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Morgan City Police Department, and Patterson Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing according to officials.
