Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a Scott resident, Brett Michael Givens, on March 8 for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material involving victims under the age of 13.
The case is significant due to the number and severity of charges. Givens faces 50 felony counts related to child sexual abuse material. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided a tip to authorities.
Givens, age 34 and residing on St. Mary Street in Scott, was located and taken into custody by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division based on an active warrant from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with bond set at $50,000. The arrest resulted from a joint effort between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
