A Romanian man has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson. Rambo Harna admitted guilt on June 26, 2025, for his involvement in a scheme targeting Walmart stores across the United States.

Court records indicate that Harna and his accomplices defrauded Walmart by using deceptive tactics at various store locations. The group employed sleight-of-hand techniques to mislead cashiers into believing they received full payment while secretly reclaiming part of the money. They then returned merchandise for refunds or secured the full value of money orders and transfers after paying only a fraction of their cost.

Harna’s sentencing is set for July 23, 2025, before United States District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown. He faces potential penalties including up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling transnational criminal organizations. The operation combines resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations, along with Walmart Home Office Central Investigations Organized Retail Crime Division for their roles in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell is leading the prosecution.
