An Orleans Parish resident, Juan K. Simpson, was sentenced to 48 months in prison after pleading guilty to bank robbery. The sentencing took place on November 25, 2025, before United States District Judge Darrel James Papillion.
Simpson, age 30, will serve his sentence concurrently with any terms imposed by municipal courts in Gulfport and Picayune, Mississippi. In addition to the prison term, Judge Papillion ordered three years of supervised release and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
According to court documents, Simpson robbed a Capital One Bank located on South Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans on November 25, 2024.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation into the case. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman from the General Crimes Unit prosecuted the matter.

SIMPSON (“SIMPSON”), age 30, was sentenced on November 25, 2025, by United States District Judge Darrel James Papillion, after previously pleading guilty to bank robbery, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a).”
