An Oregon woman, Cora Beuving, aged 26, has pleaded guilty to the charge of misprision of a felony in connection with the sex trafficking of a minor. The plea was entered before United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon on May 29, 2025. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson made the announcement regarding Beuving’s admission.
Court documents reveal that in May 2024, two adult men transported a fifteen-year-old girl from Houston, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana for commercial sexual exploitation. Beuving’s role involved posting advertisements for commercial sex involving the minor victim on online classified ad service websites.
Beuving faces up to three years of imprisonment and could also be subject to one year of supervised release. Additionally, she may incur a fine up to $250,000 and is required to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project seeks to coordinate federal, state, and local resources to prosecute offenders exploiting children via the Internet and rescue victims.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended Homeland Security Investigations and the Kenner Police Department for their investigative efforts in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni from the Financial Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
