Jon Scot Taylor, a 69-year-old resident of Portland, Oregon, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Dee D. Drell and includes an additional 20 years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

The case against Taylor began in August 2023 when agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) engaged with him on an online chat forum while posing as a 13-year-old girl. Their conversations transitioned to text messaging and continued until February 2024. During this period, Taylor solicited sexually explicit images from the individual he believed to be a minor and sent child sexual abuse material depicting children aged 12 or 13.

Taylor admitted at his guilty plea hearing to knowingly distributing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct across state lines using a computer. He pleaded guilty to three counts of distribution of child pornography.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney LaDonte A. Murphy. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative led by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through collaboration between federal, state, and local resources.
