Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson has announced the sentencing of Wayne C. Walker, a 28-year-old resident of New Orleans, on July 10, 2025. Walker had previously pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing and using a United States Postal Service “arrow” key and possessing approximately 80 pieces of stolen U.S. mail.

The incident leading to Walker’s arrest occurred on January 26, 2022, when he was found with the stolen mail and the postal service key. U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan sentenced him to three years of probation, required him to complete 100 hours of community service, and imposed a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.

Simpson commended the efforts of the United States Postal Inspection Service, Office of the Inspector General, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating the case. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jon Maestri from the General Crimes Unit.
