A New Orleans man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a fraudulent vehicle purchase scheme. Kenneth Richmond, 65, was sentenced on August 14, 2025, after being convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Court documents show that in 2022, Richmond and his daughter, Kendra Walker, used fake and stolen personal information to buy vehicles from a local dealership. The purchases were financed through a bank, with several loans later defaulting. The dealership suffered losses totaling about $124,031.41 as a result of the scheme. Richmond used the name, date of birth, and Social Security Number of a real person without permission to buy a Dodge Challenger in July 2022.

United States District Judge Barry W. Ashe sentenced Richmond to four years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Richmond must also pay $58,852 in restitution and a $200 special assessment fee.

At the time of these offenses, Richmond was already on federal supervised release for an earlier fraud conviction. On August 13, 2025, United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance revoked his supervised release and sentenced him to two additional years in prison. These sentences will be served consecutively for a total of six years.

Judge Ashe scheduled sentencing for Walker on September 25, 2025.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office recognized the efforts of the United States Secret Service, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana Department of Public Safety in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Maria M. Carboni is prosecuting the case.
