New Orleans man receives over 14-year sentence for federal drug trafficking charges

KEVIN TYLER, II, also known as “City,” was sentenced on August 27, 2025, for his role in a cocaine distribution conspiracy in New Orleans. Tyler, age 48, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. He received a sentence of 170 months in prison, five years of supervised release, and must pay a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.

Court documents state that Tyler and other co-conspirators distributed and possessed multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine within the Eastern District of Louisiana. Tyler transported kilogram amounts of cocaine and proceeds from narcotics sales as part of the conspiracy.

The investigation was conducted under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which targets major criminal organizations through coordinated efforts led by prosecutors and involving multiple agencies. More information about OCDETF can be found at https://www.justice.gov/OCDETF.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Orleans Field Division Office led the investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, United States Border Patrol, Gretna Major Crimes Task Force, Kenner Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office provided assistance. Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman from the Narcotics Unit is prosecuting the case.
