Jarrett Hall, a 33-year-old resident of New Orleans, was sentenced on December 17, 2025, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentencing took place before United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo after Hall pleaded guilty to the charge, which is a violation of federal law.
According to court documents, Hall was stopped by the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office on December 8, 2023. During the traffic stop, officers found him in possession of a .45 caliber Colt Commander handgun. Hall had previously been convicted of a felony.
Judge Milazzo sentenced Hall to five years in prison and three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Briana Williams from the Narcotics Unit prosecuted it.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the sentencing.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that brings together law enforcement agencies and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The Department launched an updated violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021. The strategy focuses on building trust within communities, supporting organizations that work to prevent violence, setting targeted enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
