Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson has announced that Brian Picquet, a 38-year-old resident of Orleans Parish, pleaded guilty on June 24, 2025, before United States District Judge Brandon S. Long. Picquet admitted to charges related to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. The charges are in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), and 846. Additionally, he pled guilty to two counts of distribution of fentanyl under Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), and Title 18, United States Code, Section 2.

For each count against him, Picquet could face up to twenty years in prison and a fine reaching $1 million. He is also subject to at least three years of supervised release following any imprisonment term. Moreover, he must pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100 for each count.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 30, 2025.

Court documents reveal that on March 14 and March 22, 2024, during an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Picquet sold fentanyl to an individual he believed was a legitimate buyer.

The case was investigated by the ATF and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Briana Williams from the Narcotics Unit.
