New Orleans man pleads guilty to drug trafficking and firearms charges in federal court

Tyreese Quincy, age 26, pleaded guilty on April 16 before U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, United States Attorney David I. Courcelle announced on April 21.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address drug-related crime and gun violence in Southeast Louisiana. The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.

According to court documents, Quincy was charged alongside co-defendants in a multi-count superseding indictment involving narcotics trafficking and firearms violations. From late 2022 until May 2023, the group distributed fentanyl throughout the New Orleans area and possessed marijuana, cocaine, and fentanyl. Investigators found loaded firearms near controlled substances during the investigation, suggesting that the weapons were used to further drug trafficking crimes.

Quincy will be sentenced on August 6 and faces up to twenty years imprisonment for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances as well as a mandatory minimum of five years up to life imprisonment for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Both counts also carry significant fines and supervised release requirements.
