Kentrell Williams, also known as “Fire,” was charged by superseding indictment on March 5 for distributing fentanyl, possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, according to United States Attorney David I. Courcelle.
The charges stem from alleged incidents in New Orleans on August 13, 2025, when Williams allegedly distributed more than 40 grams of fentanyl, and on February 3, 2026, when he allegedly possessed fentanyl with intent to distribute and had a Glock Model 21 GEN .45 caliber pistol in furtherance of drug trafficking. Williams is prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition due to prior felony convictions in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
If convicted of distributing fentanyl, Williams faces between five and forty years in prison, up to $5 million in fines, and at least four years of supervised release. For possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, the penalty could be up to twenty years imprisonment and a $1 million fine. The charge of possessing a firearm during drug trafficking carries a minimum sentence of five years up to life imprisonment—served consecutively—along with fines up to $250,000. Illegal possession of a firearm by a felon could result in up to fifteen years imprisonment and similar fines. Each offense also includes a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
Courcelle said that “the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.” The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Louisiana State Police, Major Crimes Task Force, and New Orleans Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman is prosecuting the case.
