Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit secured a guilty plea on March 23 from Marion Prudhomme III, a Monroe resident, on two counts of Medicaid fraud in the 19th Judicial District Court.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by the Louisiana Department of Justice to address fraudulent activities within the state’s Medicaid program. Officials say such prosecutions help protect public resources and maintain trust in government services.
According to information provided by the Attorney General’s office, Prudhomme admitted to submitting false documentation while working as a Direct Service Worker for Enrich Personal Care Services in Monroe. Investigators found that he claimed to be providing services for a Medicaid recipient in Monroe when he was actually working another job in Shreveport. Agents used electronic clock-ins, records from his second employer, and phone records to confirm that Prudhomme was not present in Monroe during the times he reported providing care. The loss to the Medicaid program totaled $13,017.40.
Prudhomme’s sentence was deferred under article 893, placing him on one year of bench probation with conditions including successful completion of an antitheft class, payment of court costs and fines totaling $604.75, and restitution already recouped from Enrich PCS.
