The Middle District of Louisiana announced on March 9 that it is sending out Qualification Questionnaires as part of its process to qualify jurors for future jury service. Recipients are required by federal law to respond to the questionnaire.

The court clarified that receiving a questionnaire does not mean individuals have been summoned for jury duty, nor does it require them to appear at the courthouse. The announcement directs those with questions about the process to consult the Jury Frequently Asked Questions section for more information.

Officials also warned residents to be alert for potential scams related to jury duty. “The Court or the U.S. Marshals Service will NEVER ask for payment, your Social Security Number, or other personal identification information! Stay vigilant regarding jury duty scams!”

Anyone with questions about the Jury Qualification Questionnaire form is encouraged to call (225) 490-6015.

This effort is part of routine procedures used by federal courts to ensure a pool of qualified jurors is available when needed.
