LUIS A. GAMA, a 38-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced on July 23, 2025, for illegally re-entering the United States after having previously been deported. According to court documents, Gama was found in Tangipahoa Parish on or around April 10, 2025. He had earlier been deported to Mexico on September 10, 2019.

United States District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown sentenced Gama to twelve months of imprisonment and one year of supervised release.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended Immigration and Customs Enforcement for its investigation in this case. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell from the General Crimes Unit.
