ENRIQUE TORRES-BEIZA, also known as Enrique B. Torres, a 40-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced in New Orleans on August 14, 2025, for reentering the United States after being deported. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Torres-Beiza received an 18-month prison sentence, one year of supervised release, and must pay a $100 special assessment fee.

Court documents indicate that Torres-Beiza had previously been deported from the United States on December 26, 2018. He was discovered unlawfully present in the country on or about October 26, 2024, while serving time at Terrebonne Parish Jail in Louisiana following his conviction for a second offense of driving under the influence.

The prosecution stated that this case is part of Operation Take Back America. According to the Department of Justice, “Operation Take Back America” is a nationwide initiative intended to use all available resources to address illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), with a focus on community protection and reducing violent crime. The operation combines efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson acknowledged both the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for their investigative work on this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice, Jr., of the General Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
