Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Luis A. Gama, a 38-year-old native of Mexico, pled guilty to the charge of re-entry of a removed alien on June 26, 2025. This violation falls under Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Court documents reveal that Gama was located in Tangipahoa Parish around April 10, 2025. He had previously been deported to Mexico on September 10, 2019.

Gama’s sentencing is set for July 23, 2025, before United States District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown. He faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment, a fine up to $250,000, up to one year of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. It coordinates resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their investigative work on this case. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell from the General Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution.
