Agents from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, under Attorney General Liz Murrill, have arrested a 19-year-old Lafayette resident on charges related to possession of child sexual abuse materials involving victims under the age of 13.
Joshua C. Mire, who lives on Vital Street in Lafayette, was taken into custody on December 10. He faces eight felony counts for violations of Louisiana law concerning child sexual abuse material involving minors younger than 13 years old.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided a tip to authorities. The operation was carried out as a joint effort between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Mire has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. His bond has reportedly been set at $200,000.
“Our investigation continues,” officials stated.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
