Special Agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, led by Attorney General Liz Murrill, faced harassment while arresting a Chinese national in New Orleans on December 12, 2025. The individual, identified as 29-year-old Jiaxin Tian, was apprehended at his residence on Coliseum Street in the Touro neighborhood.
Tian has been in the United States on an academic visa since 2021. He is accused of possessing 150 counts of child sexual abuse material involving victims under the age of 13. The arrest followed a search warrant executed by state and local law enforcement agencies, including the New Orleans Police Department, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and Pearl River County (MS) Sheriff’s Office.
According to authorities, the materials found included images and videos depicting children as young as toddlers being sexually assaulted.
During and after the search warrant execution, law enforcement encountered protestors who expressed opposition to their presence. These individuals shouted expletives at officers, used their vehicles’ horns loudly, made hand gestures indicating displeasure, and followed law enforcement vehicles through traffic.
Officials emphasized that such actions would not interfere with ongoing efforts to address crimes against children. “Our office will investigate any attempts to harm or obstruct our agents for doing their jobs in taking child sex predators off the streets. This behavior will not be tolerated. I’d like to personally thank my LBI agents and all our law enforcement partners for their tireless dedication to protecting the children of Louisiana,” said Attorney General Liz Murrill.
After his arrest, Tian was taken to Orleans Parish Prison for booking. He faces charges under LA R.S. 14:81.1—possession of child sexual abuse material under the age of thirteen—totaling 150 counts. Bond information was not available at press time.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities remind that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
