The Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women has granted $3,382,830 to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (LCLE) to support efforts in addressing violent crimes against women and improving victim services. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Ellison C. Travis.
According to the release, $2,474,419 comes from the STOP (Services, Training, Officers, Prosecutors) Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program. This program aims to enhance law enforcement, prosecution, and court strategies for combating violent crimes against women and to bolster victim services—especially those that are community-based or culturally specific—in cases involving domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
An additional $908,411 was awarded through the Sexual Assault Services Formula Program. This funding is directed toward supporting rape crisis centers and nonprofit organizations that provide direct intervention and assistance to victims of sexual assault. The funds are meant to supplement other resources at the state level aimed at addressing sexual assault.
“LCLE is a foundation located in Baton Rouge dedicated to improving the operations of the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems and to promoting public safety by providing progressive leadership and coordination within the criminal justice community.”
