Jahbrell Price, a 25-year-old resident of Marrero, Louisiana, was sentenced on December 4, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown after pleading guilty to charges related to drug possession and illegal firearm possession. The sentencing follows an indictment with two counts: possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a machine gun.
Price received a total sentence of 33 months in prison. This includes 12 months for the drug charge and 33 months for the firearm charge, both to be served concurrently. In addition, he will serve three years of supervised release and must pay a $125 mandatory special assessment fee.
According to court documents, detectives from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Price on January 7, 2024, at a motel in Marrero while executing an outstanding Orleans Parish warrant. During their search of his hotel room, law enforcement found twenty bottles of promethazine totaling 9,460 milliliters, $1,375 in cash, and a Glock model 45 nine-millimeter handgun equipped with an external machine gun conversion device.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which coordinates efforts among law enforcement agencies and communities to address violent crime and gun violence. The Department of Justice strengthened PSN’s strategy in May 2021 by emphasizing trust-building within communities, supporting organizations that work to prevent violence, focusing enforcement priorities strategically, and tracking outcomes.
Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for its involvement in the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman prosecuted the case.
