Carlos Roberto Guardado-Ramirez, a 46-year-old native of Honduras, was sentenced on April 22 by United States District Judge Greg Gerard Guidry after pleading guilty to re-entry of a removed alien. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle on May 1.

Guardado-Ramirez received a sentence of time served, one year of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a mandatory $100 special assessment fee. He has been held in federal prison since December 10, 2025.

Court records show that Guardado-Ramirez was found in the United States on December 3, 2025. He had reentered the country without authorization from the Attorney General after being previously deported on May 4, 2006. Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans received information identifying him as someone who had returned after removal. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested Guardado-Ramirez in LaPlace, Louisiana for illegally re-entering the country.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations using resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood program.

U.S. Attorney Courcelle said: “U.S. Attorney Courcelle praised the work of the United States Border Patrol in investigating this matter.” Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, led the prosecution.
