A Honduran national, Rossel Geovanny Recinos Arita, has been sentenced following a guilty plea for re-entering the United States after being deported. The sentencing took place on June 17, 2025, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson.

Recinos Arita, aged 30, was found in St. Tammany Parish on or around February 24, 2025. He had previously been deported to Honduras on June 19, 2018. United States District Judge Susie Morgan sentenced him to time served.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations. It utilizes resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell from the General Crimes Unit led the prosecution.
