Edgardo Amador-Rodriguez, a 29-year-old native of Honduras, was sentenced to six months in federal prison for re-entering the United States after deportation. The sentencing took place on June 17, 2025, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.

Court documents reveal that Amador-Rodriguez had previously been deported on June 8, 2018. He was detained again after being booked into Orleans Justice Center on December 22, 2024, following an arrest for several state charges. Another detainer was issued on March 5, 2025, when he was arrested and booked into Jefferson Parish on municipal and traffic attachments.

On March 7, 2025, Enforcement and Removal Operations New Orleans took custody of Amador-Rodriguez after his release from local custody due to an active detainer. Records from the Department of Homeland Security confirm his last deportation to Honduras occurred on June 8, 2018.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is handling the prosecution.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combating cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). The operation integrates resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
