Carlos Roberto Guardado-Ramirez, a 46-year-old native of Honduras, pleaded guilty on March 18 to the charge of re-entry of a removed alien, according to U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle. The plea was entered in New Orleans federal court, and sentencing is scheduled before U.S. District Judge Greg Guidry on April 22.
Guardado-Ramirez was found in the United States on December 3, 2025, after having previously been deported on May 4, 2006. Authorities said he did not have authorization from the Attorney General to return.
Homeland Security Investigations in New Orleans received information that Guardado-Ramirez had returned after removal. He was encountered and arrested by ICE Enforcement and Removal Officers in LaPlace, Louisiana for illegally re-entering the country.
Guardado-Ramirez faces up to two years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, up to one year of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100 for his conviction.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative described as marshaling resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods—to address illegal immigration and related criminal activity.
U.S. Attorney Courcelle praised the work of the United States Border Patrol during this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is handling prosecution.
