A Honduran national, Pedro Tailor Castillo-Bonilla, has been indicted for re-entering the United States after being previously deported. Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the indictment on July 3, 2025. Castillo-Bonilla, aged 42, was found in Jefferson Parish on June 18, 2025. He had been removed to Honduras twice before, on October 20, 2011, and August 15, 2012.

If convicted of re-entry of a removed alien under Title 8 of the United States Code Section 1326(a), Castillo-Bonilla could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

“An indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. It leverages resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended U.S. Customs and Border Protection for their investigation efforts in this matter. Special Assistant United States Attorney Frederick W. Veters Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is overseeing the prosecution.
