Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the indictment of Osman Jose Urbina-Centeno, a 33-year-old Honduran national, on charges related to re-entry of a deported alien. The indictment was issued on June 5, 2025, and pertains to a violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Court documents reveal that Urbina-Centeno was discovered in the Eastern District of Louisiana on May 12, 2025. He had previously been deported to Honduras on September 8, 2010.

If found guilty, Urbina-Centeno could face up to two years in prison, a fine reaching $250,000, three years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Simpson emphasized that an indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant’s guilt must be established beyond reasonable doubt.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America. This initiative utilizes resources from the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations. It also involves collaboration with the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Assistant United States Attorney Spiro G. Latsis is handling the prosecution.
