Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the indictment of Mainor Fuentes-Pineda, a 22-year-old native of Honduras, on June 26, 2025. Fuentes-Pineda faces charges for possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(5).

Court documents reveal that Fuentes-Pineda was found in Orleans Parish on April 29, 2025, with a Glock Model 42 semi-automatic pistol. If convicted, he could face up to fifteen years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, three years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Simpson emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and the defendant’s guilt must be proven beyond reasonable doubt.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. It utilizes resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Simpson commended Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their investigative work. Special Assistant United States Attorney Frederick W. Veters Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is overseeing the prosecution.
