A Honduran national has been sentenced in New Orleans for reentering the United States after previously being removed. Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Marlon Santos, 36, was sentenced on November 19, 2025, for reentry of a removed alien, which is a violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Court documents show that Santos was found in Orleans Parish on April 21, 2025. He had earlier been deported to Honduras on December 21, 2018.

United States District Judge Lance M. Africk handed down a sentence of two years in prison followed by one year of supervised release.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for its role in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Spiro G. Latsis from the General Crimes Unit oversaw the prosecution.
