A Honduran national has pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal re-entry after being found in the Eastern District of Louisiana without permission from U.S. authorities. Abraham Ramirez-Cantor, 40, was previously removed from the United States on November 21, 2005. According to court documents, he was discovered back in the country on April 3, 2025.
Ramirez-Cantor had not received authorization from either the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to return to the United States. United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to time served.
“ActingUnited States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that ABRAHAM RAMIREZ-CANTOR (“RAMIREZ-CANTOR”), age 40, a native of Honduras, pleaded guilty today to illegal re-entry of a removed alien, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1326(a).”
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson recognized the role played by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this case. The prosecution is led by Assistant United States Attorney Duane A. Evans of the General Crimes Unit.
“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
Operation Take Back America coordinates efforts between several federal programs aimed at countering illegal immigration and organized crime.
