A Guatemalan national, Ruben Urizar-Beteta, age 49, has pled guilty and been sentenced for illegally re-entering the United States after being previously removed. The sentencing took place on July 15, 2025, in New Orleans.

Court records show that Urizar-Beteta re-entered the country before March 23, 2025, despite a prior removal dated around September 30, 2014. He received a sentence of 30 months unsupervised probation and was ordered to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commented on the case: “I want to praise the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in investigating this matter.” Assistant United States Attorney Irene González from the General Crimes Unit led the prosecution.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and targeting criminal organizations through coordinated federal resources.
