Jules Gibson, a 40-year-old former resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, was sentenced to 120 months in prison on August 12, 2025. The sentencing took place before United States District Judge Susie Morgan. Gibson had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute cocaine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. He received concurrent sentences for both charges and will serve an eight-year term of supervised release after his imprisonment.

Court documents show that Gibson’s co-defendant was arrested by Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies. During the arrest, deputies found several clear plastic bags containing cocaine and crack cocaine, a digital scale, a handgun, and a cell phone in the co-defendant’s vehicle. Examination of the cell phone by law enforcement revealed text messages, photographs, and other evidence documenting drug trafficking activities over an extended period. These records included information about retail drug traffickers supplied by the co-defendant, including Gibson. Gibson was later arrested while in possession of a loaded pistol.

Gibson had previously been convicted of a serious drug felony and faced increased penalties as a result.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department of Justice strengthened its violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021 by focusing on community trust, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Mark A. Miller prosecuted it.

“Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that JULES GIBSON (“GIBSON”), age 40, formerly a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, was sentenced to 120 months on August 12, 2025, before United States District Judge Susie Morgan after previously pled guilty to Conspiracy to Possess, with Intent to Distribute, and Distribute Cocaine,in violation of Title 21, United States Code, 846; and Felon in Possession of a Firearm in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1). He was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment on each charge. Judge Morgan ordered the sentences to run concurrently. He was also ordered to serve an eight-year term of supervised release upon his release from prison.”

“This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
