An Alexandria man has pleaded guilty to the charge of Simple Battery of Persons with Infirmities following an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit within the Louisiana Department of Justice.

According to the Louisiana Attorney General’s office, Marcus Sanders, who worked as a Direct Care Provider at Pinecrest Supports and Services Center, admitted in court on January 14, 2026, to one count of violating La. Sanders was arrested for this act on June 24, 2025. After entering his guilty plea in the 9th Judicial District Court, he received a sentence of forty days in parish prison. The sentence includes credit for any time already served and will run concurrently with any other sentences.

“This arrest and conviction resulted from an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with the Louisiana Department of Justice,” stated officials from Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office.
