Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a Slidell couple on April 23 for allegedly defrauding the state’s Medicaid program of nearly $135,000.

The case involves Phuc and Tran Pham, both residents of Marais River Drive in Slidell, who are accused of intentionally underreporting their income and misrepresenting their marital status to receive Medicaid benefits. The investigation was initiated after the Louisiana Department of Health referred the matter to the bureau.

According to investigators, between March 2022 and August 2025, Phuc and Tran Pham provided false information regarding their household income and marital status. This led to an alleged loss to the Medicaid program totaling almost $135,000. Both individuals were arrested pursuant to warrants issued by the 19th Judicial District Court. Phuc Pham, age 36, faces two counts of government benefits fraud and one count of filing false public records. Tran Pham, age 34, faces three counts of government benefits fraud and one count of filing false public records.

“Defrauding Medicaid is stealing from the hardworking taxpayers of our state. If you lie to obtain benefits, you’re going to jail,” said Attorney General Murrill.

The couple was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison without incident; bond information has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
